Home Steam Saunas
Nothing can soothe our body like a warm steam and nothing soothes the joints like spending an hour in the soft heat of a sauna bath. Saunas are becoming increasingly popular for a very long time, and even date back to the ancient Greeks and Turks, who called it by the famous name Hamam. The Romans also spent many leisurely hours there, often discussing important state affairs in the comfortable surroundings.
Currently with new technology and innovations, sauna baths can easily be installed in any convenient place at a very affordable price. Apart from homes, sauna baths can also be found in local spas and health and fitness centers.
How Saunas Work
Usually a steam sauna bath is bigger and wider than a steam room. Having a sauna is considered to be a social affair, and is constructed wide enough to accommodate more people, whether it is enjoyed at home or a public place. However, the bath should not be too big huge or too small, and ideally it should have some space left in the middle.
The word sauna is derived from a Finnish word savu, which means smoke. Sauna baths primarily involves the generation of mist by steam generators. These traditional steam sauna baths are made of good quality wood, preferably cedar or some other similar non-staining, heat-resistant variety. There are sauna rocks in the sauna and steam baths to provide a cloud of steam when water is thrown upon them. The wood in the bath, providing a dry atmosphere for the body, absorbs the steam generated by this process. Our body will perspire after spending some time in this environment and the pores will definitely open, restoring the skin to its natural glow.
Types of Saunas for the Home
Generally for home designs, it is recommended a sauna to hold one to four people. One can choose from various brands and styles such as the traditional sauna, the Finnish rock sauna, or even consider having an infrared sauna. Having a sauna is considered an asset in a big house but may become a liability if one is installed in a small apartment. Saunas are an excellent amenity for any large home as well as adding value to the home.
